About Me

I'm Mel, I'm a professional therapeutic counsellor. I have my own private practice based in Devon, UK.
I am accredited by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and have a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am committed to professional development and regularly undertake additional training. My particular areas of interest are :
- anxiety,
- relationship counselling,
- parenting
- working with autistic & neurodivergent clients
- self development
My Background :
Woman's Aid : supporting women & children who have experienced domestic abuse
Inner city school counsellor : working with young people facing challenges such as social anxiety, self-harm, neurodivergence, eating disorders, and self-esteem.
Victims of Crime Service: helping young people and children who have experienced trauma from various crimes including sexual assault.
Citizens Advice Bureau: supporting individuals and families facing complex life challenges.
Early Years Education : my previous role as a teacher has helped me understand stages of child development, and has been invaluable experience for learning how to build rapport with young people & their carers.
I believe that I bring a wealth of experience to my counselling work not only through my previous work background but also through my own personal history. I too have experienced difficult periods in my life. I know what it feels like to have a lack of self belief and to feel stuck. I have experienced first hand the challenges that are faced by neurodiverse family members.
My personal history gives me a good insight into how you might be feeling.
Counselling helped me make sense of my feelings and gave me a sense of renewed hope and that's why I'm passionate about supporting you.
The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.
